Tending his own garden.

A tick bite and a diagnosis of Lyme disease turned out to be just the first, small step on what would become a years-long health journey for Rob McQuilkin, a literary agent. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Rob, now 55, and his husband moved from New York City to a home in Tuxedo Park, New York. When he wasn’t working, Rob threw himself into country life, raising chickens and doing some serious gardening. Thinking back, he believes it was all that crawling through leaves and digging in the dirt that led to being bitten by a tick and contracting Lyme disease.

But Lyme, while serious, wasn’t his ultimate problem. Cancer would be.

This incredible patient testimonial shares how our Concorde physicians, internist, Dr. Jeffrey Engel and gastroenterologist, Dr. Luis Barraza, teamed up to uncover a rare form of pancreatic cancer for Rob McQuikin.
